People are getting into the eggnog...time to renew our commitment to the holiday spirit.

The holidays are a special time for families and marriages. It’s a time that can bring people closer together, but can also create stress and challenges even for stable marriages and relationships. The hustle and bustle of shopping, the endless preparation, the traveling, the expectations and anticipation, the parties, and even the interaction with extended family, can put a strain on what is supposed to be a time of joy and promise.

And for those facing the pain of infidelity, abandonment or marital problems, the holidays can be a particularly difficult and agonizing time. There probably isn’t a time of year that feels lonelier for betrayed spouses or the children missing a walk away parent. It is this time of year, that a forum like this one can be a lifeline for members and lurkers who need a place to find support and compassion….and we would like to provide that.

So, in the spirit of the season, and in an effort to refocus the forum on the purpose for which it was intended….the BoD would like to announce a special holiday program for Marriage Advocates. Between December 16th and January 2nd, only those forums specifically designed to help people will be open. We will announce which forums will be closed in the next day or so….but certainly, The Thunderdome will be one of them. This three week vacation, will provide several things: time for our members, as well as our volunteers to spend more time with their families, make the time we all spend here…a time when we can give their best for those who truly need it. A time to spread good will and put aside petty arguments and politics.

There will be special rules.

No meta-discussions of any kind will be tolerated. If you want to help someone….help them. If you want to argue about how someone else is helping, criticize advice or other people….forget it. Personal attacks, both direct and implied, will not be tolerated. There will not be a PB. There will be a Grinch Box. Anyone who breaks TOS will get a “bah humbug” message and go straight to the GB for the duration of the holidays. There will be no appeals and moderator discretion will rule the day.

However, time in the GB will not affect anyone's general status the way that PB time normally would. It is simply a short vacation to allow people to refocus on their families and the reason this forum exists, instead of any personal agenda. It will not affect your overall status on the forum, so please don’t be a Scrooge!
