This thread is reserved exclusively for questions and discussion of the Marriage Advocates Moderator Manual. For those who navigate based on the active topics method, the Manual is in the first thread posted to the Welcome Board. It is a sticky and should stay in that position.

Larry,

I just don't think that people are seeing the guidelines. I'm going to put a link to them from the peer counseling thread. smile

Oddly enough, out of 20+ views, not questions or suggestions. With the population of this board, I find that remarkable. Looks as if the two week plus vetting process worked.

Any deliberate attempts by you or someone on your behalf to evade or circumvent your suspension or termination of your rights to use the Forums violates these terms, constitutes an unlawful trespass, and may result in legal action.

The only substantive thing is the addition of the prohibition on revealing private information which actually falls under the restrictions in the preceding paragraph, but I thought you might want to spell it out. I only know your fact pattern, so I'm unsure how else this might come up -- I've gotten whiffs and inklings but yours is the only thread I have actually seen where this happened -- makes it hard to use tight language.

The top part is going into the Mod Manual. The rest is a good job of tightening up the TOS. Thank you.

What about capital Forum versus no capital forum?

The MA Forum should be consistently capitalized to distinguish it from the references to other forums.

I did not -- I wanted to make sure the TOS didn't conflict and that the TOS reigned over it. I'll have a look at it from a different POV.

Looking good - thank you. I will give it a final, final and formatting before turning it over to AR to put in place, more so I have it memorized than anything needs doing - looks final now. I saw only the one placement detail you pointed out and see no need to revise, works anyway with the fix you did.

Give me a head's up when you finish with the Mod Manual and I will post it in the appropriate place after formatting, etc..

I am appreciative (so is everyone else) that an Attorney - namely you - volunteered for a final review of documents, especially one who is a fanatic on punctuation, grammar and all that. grin

Edit: One other thing, I will put an AB note on the TOS like the mod manual has for posting as approved by etc. Take a look at the one written for the mod manual to make sure it also works for the TOS, please.

Larry, in accordance with our previous agreement to edit, I have made just a few changes (strikeouts) and punctuation (which I've done in red). Sorry I missed this earlier, but SB has caught pretty much everything, so thanks to her too!

Overall, looks really good. Thanks for all the time you put into this.

Thank you RHW. I was planning on giving you a head's up after Seeks finished her deal and a good job it was too. I gave her an edited version to work with on both the TOS and Mod Manual. She found some stuff, you found some stuff, we all found stuff. I think stuff has been mostly found after the careful vetting of all. And yes, commas belong inside the " wink

It is so easy to miss something, and multiple edits always seem to turn up something. And stuff is such an ambiguous word. It beats a list of grammar, legal, punctuation and errata though.

I have a couple of other projects waiting for me. I will be glad to put these two to bed.

I'm sure you will, but we can all rest assured they have been gone over with the proverbial "fine tooth comb."

Yeah, that "comma inside the quotes" is an English teacher thing...

My inner nerd is coming out here -- does the comma ALWAYS go inside the quotes? That's what I think, but sometimes it doesn't look right, KWIM?

Mods, can we have a grammar forum??

In American English, yes. At least for now. Believe it or not, a grammar forum would probably end up in the Thunderdome! You know why? Language and useage evolve over the years.

In 1997, several of us "older" editors attended a grammar workshop because the brochure listed 10 questions...and we all got three of them wrong--despite the fact that our answers USED to be right! Can't remember what the changes were now because we just incorporated them into our work and moved forward.
So, none of this stuff is set in stone...

I moved a lot as a child and they either had just studied it the year before or were going to study it the year after. Arrived at new school number 10 or so as a high school freshman unable to diagram a sentence -- my teacher couldn't believe it. I think diagraming sentences has gone the way of dinosaurs. My knowlege of grammar is more intuitive than concrete.

Larry --- I'll have any comments on the manual to you by the end of the day.

No current limit. And I don't see one in the future. We have threads with hundreds of posts and zero problem. I would think that there might be issues - maybe - if we had one or two that got up in the thousands, but that is at best a guess.

We have no plans to limit debate or help on any thread that does not get contentious.

Is there a link to the forum policies?

I don't see one on the home page, but I just finsihed a fourteen hour shift... it might be me! lol

I am particularly looking to find out policies on users suggesting dating while still married. I had read on a thread this weekend that this was not allowed or restricted somehow. I just wanted to read the fine print...

The link to the TOS is at the bottom of every screen. The link is called "Board Rules".

The link to the TOS is on the footer of every page, the link is labelled "Board Rules".

The policy you are speaking of is referenced many times dating to the previous year. We are working on explicitly listing these policies publicly, but have not completed that process.

Allen,

I've looked up a past, official post for you to reference in regards to the dating while married subject. This was posted 12/29/2010 by star*fish here.

Cool AG, thanks. I wasn't aware of the rules pertaining to this advice.

Good to know. I would never suggest it anyways, but if I do see it I can Notify a mod about it now that I know.

I do see it often enough here...
