To our MA ohana in the OK, AR and closeby areas,

How are you doing? Watching the news there have been tornadoes with much flooding. Please let us know how you and your family are faring.

Side note: Not sure how many South American posters are on board but Peru had an 8.0 earthquake on Sunda 5/26/19. 1 death noted so far. Building damaged. Epicenter in a sparse area but some towns were affected.

My SIL is in Ecuador and they felt it near the coast. It was a long earthquake with minimal aftershocks. Interesting watch due to the strength of this earthquake. It was deep down and the quake itself was felt ongoing longer than most. Many found it hard to walk during the quake, making it difficult to get to safety.

SIL and family are ok. Everyone there still on alert.

Take care,
Orchid

Hi Orchid, I had a trip planned to visit my DD in another state so thankfully I’m far from the storm. RHW what are your plans?

Sorry I missed this, NED, Orchid. As you know, Dory the Crazy missed the the state by enough that the only effects on the Gulf Coast were temps in the 80s instead of the 90s, sunshine, and a lovely breeze. We’ve been watching the thing crawl up the coast. I was worried about family in CT, but they’re safe too. thumbsup

Of course, we’re watching “Invest 94” booking due west off the coast of Africa...
Good times!

RHW & Ned,

Glad you all are ok. Also concerned about other MAers that were affected by Dorian's path.

Here's a link that is easy to watch local and international weather events. It has been helpful to keep track of things. I'll list all 3 that I use:

1. wunderground.com
2. Tsunami Weather Center
3. usgs.gov - earthquakes

Wunderground tracks severe weather events and hurricanes. The Tsunami Weather Center tracks the tsunamis mostly in the Pacific Ocean areas. Those who live on the US westcoast and Alaska can use this when monitoring earthquakes in the Pacific. USGS.gov reports on a variety of weather conditions, including large fires raging across the US, flooding, landslides, volcanoes, etc. It also has a good monitoring map for earthquakes around the world.

Please be safe.

Take care,
Orchid

Yes thanks for checking in RHW, good to see you! AR fared well too, whew!

Thanks for putting that list of links together Orchid smile I typically look at my local station when things go crazy, so it’s good to remember there are other good sources too.
